How do I help?
Each child I work with is different and each child needs their own personalised programme of support to achieve their full potential.
I’m passionate about making Speech and Language Therapy sessions fun! Children learn best when they are playing and we get the best results when children are fully engaged and enjoying a range of exciting and, I hear, sometimes memorable speech and language games and activities. I stay up to date with the latest developments in SLT and I combine motivating games with evidence based practices.
I provide full, standardised assessments where appropriate. I also use informal assessments, observations, parent and teacher reports. I have extensive experience of writing assessment reports for Education and Health Care Plans.
I work with some children on a regular weekly basis for many years (I’ve seen two young people with ASD from their preschool years all the way through primary school). I also work with some children with mild speech sound difficulty for a short block of around six weeks. I provide 1:1 sessions and, where needed, I provide paired and small group therapy sessions. I also provide SLT programmes for home and school where appropriate.
I work closely with the families and schools/ nurseries of the children I am helping as close liaison is vital for children to make the most progress possible, generalised across environments. I have worked closely with other SLTs as well as Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, a Play Therapist and Specialist teachers.
